Well I took the MSF course this last weekend and passed with no problems.
By Sunday I was able to do all the exercises with little trouble.
The course was definately money well spent (especially since its only $15 in wyoming). This weekend I went from zero riding experience to being able to ride (though will want a little more practice before riding in traffic).
Oh and I had a blast doing it too.

Congratulations, took and passed mine 2 weeks ago. $15 that's a steal, it cost me $373 with tax (Eastern Canada).

Way to go.
No the tough part finding a suitable bike.
I passed my course over 2 weeks ago and now have my license but havent found that right fit yet. So far I like the suzuki GS500E. Am also thinking of a Bandit 400

Been trying to find an 80's vintage UJM. Had a lead on a GS550 in real good shape but it was sold before I could get the $$ together. Trying to sell an SUV when gas is 3$ a gallon isn't easy (Selling the truck I haven't driven in over a year due to gas prices, to pay for a bike).
The usual suspects are on the list. One of my coworkers is supposedly selling a rebel but have yet to get ahold of this coworker.
Used starter bikes are tough to find in wyoming. most of the used bikes for sale are harleys, and the occasional squid owned sportbike.
I like the GS500E and the Bandit 400 (though finding a bandit 400 here will be impossible). Not to keen on the Ninja 250/500 though would not say no if I could find a good deal on one. I definately prefer a more upright riding position and would prefer a standard to a cruiser or sportbike.

Hey congrats on passing the course. Looks like you might need some skis for the bike soon living in Wyoming. I lived in Casper for 15 years and now is about the time I had to put the bike away for winter.

Congrats on passing the course. Like you, I hadn't ridden anything other than a scooter on vacation and by the end of the course felt very at home on a bike.
Smartest thing you could've ever done, especially at the price....I paid $275....still worth it though....
Good luck with finding the bike and remember when you start riding with more experienced people to always ride within your confidence and comfort zone!
