'82 Honda or '92 BMW

#1 Unread post by bbo »

Thanks for the advice guys.

The Beemer I have my eyes on sells for around 3k. A co-worker sells a '82 Honda CB650 Nighthawk for about 1K. However, the bike is smoking (either valves or piston rings).

That's one of the reasons for my posting. The BMW might be a keeper, but the Honda is cheap and easier to learn on.

Tough call :?

A 23 year old bike that obviously needs engine work is not worth $1000 (IMO)

But then again, you probably shouldn't spend all that (3k) on a beginner bike.

In your position, I'd probably go w/ the BMW, or keep looking. The honda sounds like you could deal on it, but if it's burning oil, that's never a good thing.
