so today's ride started out like any other. got my gear, got rready and followed my step dad out down the trial. at one pooint i even got to try his KX250 ("procreating" INSANE) so i was feeling rather... sure of myself. On the trail back towards home, he took off (back on his KX) and i gunned it. Went down around a corner, decided i'd pass him. 4th gear, wide open (40 mph or so). When doing so, i clipped his handle bars, snapping his brake lever clean off. I lost control and the bike dumped me at 40 mph. I slid a good 40 ft and came to a stop a mere 4 feet from some trees. Luckily for me, i had on my boots, jacket, helmet and gloves. Unfourtunatly, the breath mask i just put in my helmet pushed my glasses up and they cut my eye brow hard core (10 stitches). My left wrist might be broken as well (second xray later in the weel). My bike starts and isn't too bad. He Layed his bike down (when stopped) to rush to help me. PAIN. Lot's of it. Kids, the moral of the story is, don't pass people on the right side. Ecspecially on narrow trail. And always wear your gear. I wouldn't have a face right now if i weren't wearing a helmet (i slid head first, chest on the ground).

sorry to hear about your wreck. I did the same thing once while riding with a friend, I passed on the right, clipped his handlebar, he went down and broke his leg. :(

I always pass on the right. We drive on the left side of the road, so I suppose that makes it acceptable.
