Hello all.

Does anyone know much about the 05 model Suzuki 250 intruder?

I am thinking of getting one soon.

Anyone had one?

Also, are 250 cruisers very slow, or is there some kick in them, you must excuse my ignorance, I am quite new to motorcycling.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Roy

If by 250 Intruder you mean the GZ250...then it is a pretty nice little bike. It is a 250 single that makes moderate horsepower for its size with 80+ MPH top speed.

In appearance it looks sort of like a HD Fatboy to me. I had one for several months and proved to be a pretty good ride for the backroads and such if you are going to cruise 50 to 55 MPH with hourly rest stops. It wasn't good for really, really long rides as the seat starts to become uncomfortable after 50 min. or so as the foam is a bit too soft. It dresses out real nice with a windshield and a small pair of saddlebags.

I did make a couple of runs down the Interstate, but the bike isn't really suited for that type of riding. You get blown around too easily by passing trucks and cages.

Gas economy and reliability are very good and service requirements are minimal. It is real good for a starter bike and the ergos are a lot better than the Honda Rebel, and it is a lot cheaper than a Yamaha 250 Virago (which looks like a baby Sportster).

Can't really compare it with anything from Kawasaki because in that size all they have is the EX250 Ninja (liquid cooled with sportsbike styling).

The Chinese have a couple of entrys that may compete with it. If you have a dealer in your area you can check them out. My main concern with the Chinese brand dealers is will they be there a couple of years from now?
