Today when I started my bike up after work, I noticed a smell. I didn't think anything of it at first because the scooter person had also started her scooter at the same time.
As I was riding home, I could smell the smell everytime I had to stop for a light.
I had to go the insurance store near home so when I parked it I started sniffing around the bike trying to find where it was coming from. It was then that I noticed smoke coming from where the top pipe joins up to the engine. I also saw some black guck (small amount) on the bolt that looks like it holds on a bracket.
I looked in my manual but it has no information.
I will call the dealer tomorrow but it is helpful if I have an idea (if anyone knows) of what to tell the dealer.
My bike will be one year old on the 15th and it has 9,800km.

My guess would just be a leaky gasket dripping some oil onto your hot pipe.

Yeah, I'd guess it was a leaking valvecover gasket on that cylinder as well.

Thanks, guys. I think I should get myself one of those shop manuals so I can look stuff up.....I don't know where a person goes to learn to fix a motorcycle. There's always lots of courses around to fix your car.

Otherwise, I don't know of any DIY bike repair courses like they have for cars. That don't mean they aren't out there, but they might take some diggin' to find.

Better to take a car course than nothing. An engine's an engine. Sometimes the peripherals may change, but it's a good place to learn basics.
