when i take off in 1st (up to like 2500 to 3000rpm) it makes pretty loud clunking noises.. its comes and goes. i have a 93 yamaha fzr 600. if anyone has an idea of what it could be i would appreciate it. thanks, steve

Check your chain and sprockets.

i had the same problem with my 81 xs400. Shortly after it started happening, my clutch plates blew and i got stuck on the side of the road 180 miles away from home.
