If anyone is interested in the details of the crash, I made a post at the Triumph forum I hang out at. Might be helpful. Show's what happens when you get distracted for just 3 seconds.

Fast foward to today... I need to replace the helmet that helped save me from more serious injury. It was an Arai Astral-X. Great helmet. But since insurance is covering the replacement, I may be able to afford to toss in a few extra bucks for an upgrade. I was wondering if anyone knows the real world differences between the Astral-X, Signet-GTR, Quantum-2, and RX-7 Corsair. I'm mainly interested in things like comfort, cooling, noise.... i'm confident in the safety features of all Arai helmets. Their website is a bit annoying to navigate and find info.
Also, if anyone has experience with other helmets I'm all ears. I know that Shoei don't fit right, and HJC I don't care for either. My head is kind of oblong shaped. Not huge, just long. My arai is a medium.
Thanks!

I don't know anything, But just wanted to say how glad I am you're okay. The seat does look great, BTW. Keep us posted on the progress with your bumps and bruises...and that headache, especially.

Thank you very much.
The accident was one week ago today. I am fine, as far as I can tell anyway.
My shoulder pain is 95% gone and no headache after the 2nd day.

Glad you are OK...that's the main thing. Beautiful bike, nice seat, really looks good in those pics. I hope you get it back in pristine condition and soon.
Can't help as far as the helmet goes though.
Cheers, Pongo

What about the right knee? Did that turn out to be anything at all?

You got off pretty lucky. When your post mentioned asking the same question 4 times, I was suprised that they didn't keep you in the hospital for observation. That's a key sign of a concussion and they usually want to keep an eye on you to make sure there's no brain swelling (don't ask how I know

). Overall, you came out of the whole deal pretty well, I'd say. It could've been a lot worse. Congrats! (sort of)

Hope they find the ***** who pulled out in front of you.
The bike looked great BTW. Those modern classic triumphs look real nice.
At least your bike will be fixed/replaced and your in one piece.
A friend of mine had a similar accident 6 weeks ago (though thankfully not a hit & run). His gear kept him alive and he came out of a severe accident with a cracked jaw and broken arm. The bike is in 3 pieces but insurance is paying for a replacement.

I wore an Arai for years until I lost it in a crash. I found the fit of a Suomy helmet was very similar if not exactly like the Arai. It was a great helmet that I wore for a few years till I lost it in another crash.

So so glad that you came out if this OK and really sorry the bike was damaged that way. Good luck with your recovery and hope that the insurance company comes to the party. In SA some insurance companies hire guys to find the perps, maybe you should ask if yours does. If they find the perps the insurance company thens sues them. PS I wear the Arai astro R and my wife the Condor and we both love them.
