hi ya
the VTR is a nice bike for a learner, if you expect to be doing a lot of highway or freeway ya will get bounced around a bit, but on the whole its a great learner / commuter package. Ive done a few miles on one.
Now, Ive actually ridden an NSR 150 as well, and its a total different feel, and difficult to compare a naked vtwin with a fully faired 2 stroke. The 150 is a twitchy bike and ya prolly could consider it a bit of a race replica, but, it is only a 150 so if you were interested in super sport as I am, then this is a not so bad bike to get some time on, before you progress up the power tree (much better than say an 250 aprillia).
The VTR you will find alot more comfortable to spend alot of prolonged riding on than the 150, and its pretty forgiving if you give it the wrong imputs every now and then as learners do, the 150 is very responsive, and wants to lay over at the mere thought of it, but its just learning.
good luck with it
stay safe
