Anyone an electrics whizz round here?

The bike has a couple of little electrical niggles I'd like to try and sort out myself - surely they can't be that complicated to someone out there who has the knowledge

The oil lamp is wired up to the neutral - so when the bike is in neutral the oil lamp comes on.

I tried simply swapping the wire connections round - in the bunches behind the headlamp - but this didn't do the trick. Surely theres a simple way to fix this?

Also, now the dipped headlamp has stopped working. It was working before - now the headlamp only works on full beam. How can this be? Nothing has been disconnected or altered to do with the headlamp switch. What can have stopped working? Am I right in thinking there must be a simple answer to these niggles - its just a matter of having the information to know... Help!

The lightbulb thing - Most sealed beam type bulbs have a dual filament - one for high and one for low. Chances are the filament for the low beam is shot (this is fairly common) just replace the bulb and you should be fine.

Your neutral/oil light sounds like the a faulty connection.

The problem is withoug a wiring diagram I cannot pinpoint the location of the wire (Or for that matter say that I'm 100% positive this is the fault - the lights may not be on the same circuit) I think the only way you can diagnose this is to get a wiring diagram and find out what these two light circuits have in common (what wires) and look for the fault there.

Did have a look at the bulb and both the filaments appear to be intact - might try a new one just in case, its always a spare if not.

If it's not the bulb, you are going to have to get real familiar with that wiring diagram...

get a cheap circuit tester (test light) at any auto parts store.
unplug the wire from the headlight.
turn the light on dim,you should have 1 hot wire.
turn it on bright there should be 2 hot wires.
the other plug in the connector is the ground.
if all that works it is the bulb.
i had 2 rd400 yamahas that the oil light stayed on after cranking and idling until you shifted into gear,then it would stay out until you cranked it again.

looked up headlight for rd 125lc..24 pounds..that is $42.50 in U.S. dollars.
be sure you need one before you buy.
switch might need cleaning or be bad.

24 quid for a new bulb Naw mate I got one before for about £3!

i aint selling them.typed in headlight for yamaha rd125lc and that came up.i guess you could buy 8 cheap ones for 24 quid.
