Saddlebag question

Since I'm growing tired of strapping on a knapsack anytime I want to go on anything other than a local ride, I've been looking around for saddlebags.

I have an '05 Softail Deuce FXSTDI with factory installed pipes. Its actually the pipes that are my concern since they're above and below the passenger peg thus limiting how much room I have from the seat to the top pipe.

Going to Harley Davidson (which we all know stands for High Dollar) they have a nice looking set but want $575 just for the bags...then you have to buy an installation kit and indicator relocation kit.....whew!

Obviously I want something that looks nice, but just a little bit more affordable.

Also bear in mind that this'll be the first thing I do to alter my bike since buying it in March.......

Idea's?????

There are a couple of different companies that make nice bags for cheap. I bought a set of saddlemen bags for the Sportster and only paid $70, they are really nice bags. You can get some ideas if you check out J&P cycle, they have almost everything you can think of when it comes to cruizers. I just used the regular saddlebag supports, which are easy to mount but are kind of a pain if you want to take the bag off, you might want to check out ghost brackets or easy brackets to mount your bags. I have heard nothing but good things from both of those companies.

Thanks guys....this was just the info I was looking for!

I went to HD to pick up a windshield my girlfriend bought as a present and had a long conversation with the parts guy about the saddlebag issue.

He was nice enough and knowledgable but admitted that the deuce doesn't have the brackets to attach the hardware. I'd looked at J&P but wasn't sure about the size or attaching it.

But those links to easy & ghost bracket are awesome with the deuce addressed specifically by each manufacturer. As matter of fact, the attachement of the hardware looks fairly easy!
