Installing a tach

While looking at used motorcycles I noticed a lot don't have tachs, especially cruisers. Is installing a tach an involved process that should only be done by the factory? Thanks

no installing a tach is not an involved process. 4 wires, one goes to positve battery, one to ground, and one to the negative wire on your coil, and the last one is for the internal light on the tach and gets spliced into the circut for the internal lighting on your other gauges. Then just find a nice palce to mount it.

its a tachometer. A gauge that tells you how fast the engine is turning. Good to help prevent overrevving. Most cars and bikes come with them from the factory
