I am looking to get my first motorcycle, and was wondering what everyone's recommendations are as far as a first bike. I will be riding mostly around town, and need something inexpensive and safe.

I will most likely be buying a used bike, so if there are any good older models (but reliable), that would be great.

As you will be using it mainly in town, I would recommend a 250cc. Look around for one that fits you and your budget. Most of the Japanese makes should be ok.

Remember bigger bikes will tend to be harder for slow speed manovering and you will be doing lots of that in town.
