Well i saw my friend Steve tonight, and jokingly asked if i could borrow his gixxer sometime.
He was all like "sure man, stop by some time keys are in it." And it seemed like he Genuinly meant it.
so i may take him up on it his offer this weekend so i can ride with my buddy Dan. think its worth it?
I kinda want to but i'm scared of it as well.

Nice! I'd be scared borrowing a friend's machine too, but probably would anyway.

Make sure his tires aren't bald like the tires on half the sportbikes out there ...
Don't be afraid of the machine tho, just go easy on the throttle at first and you'll get a feel for it. Don't try to "keep up" if you're riding w/ a bud who's used to sportbikes, and remember that racers get their knees down, so you can certainly lean the bike over as much as you need to - if the tires are good trust them to do their job and have fun

Definitely not anything to be scared of. Just have a soft throttle hand. You'll find pretty fast that there really isn't any power until you get very high up in the rpms. So just keep it down lower if you're not feeling so comfortable.
Like TechBMW said, check those tires. A lot of people don't seem to care about theirs, which is scary. Especially since those are the only two things keeping you on the road.

All of 'the above' &....
Test out the 'feel' of the brakes on ya mates bike before you grab a handful, will most likely not be like the ones on your bike!
Then just take it easy & slowly build up your confidence....until your into the Zone, then enjoy!
After, wash it & Gas it up, would be a nice getsture....

Its lookin like rain, so it is unlikly that i'll go out. last i checked he had new tires on it.
Man my old nighthawks brakes were aweful, mr friend Dan and i switched once i rode his bandit and he took my nighthawk, it was rediculous how much better his brakes were. so i can only imagine that the gixxers are way better than even the bandit.
On another note, My friend bought an 02 R6 as his first bike for 3,500, i told him he wasnt allowed to ride it, though i would ride it to his house for him, I talked him into selling it next year for more than he paid for it and getting a reasonable starter bike. i'll see what he thinks about a gs500 or a sv650.
so yeah R6 ride on sunday.

Ludicris i know.

Could it be time to update your machine?
Now you have a great excuse!
