So how many people have a truck? I don't do a lot of work that requires a truck. I live in an apartment and work at a bank. So I have never really needed or wanted a truck. But now that I have a motorcycle I find myself wishing I had one all the time. Looks like it could be a crew cab for the next vehicle.

Mazda B3000 Pickup. Trailer Hitch. $250 4' * 8' Utility trailer.

Get a hitch on your car, pick up a cheap trailer from Harbor Freight. Those trailers are fine for hauling a bike.

The Trailer is a lot lower and easier to load the bike on.

The bike would need a remarkably short wheelbase to squeeze in there.

I have a 95 F150. I love trucks. Once you get used to driving a truck you will never drive a car again. Kind of like when you start riding a motorcycle, then the truck sits all the time.

Indeed. My bike is longer than the bed of my truck...with the tailgate down! However, my dad has a 6' x 12' hard-sided trailer with two built-in motorcycle wheel chocks, and I'm just a Reese hitch away from being able to use it. I'll probably be putting one on in the next couple months.

It was a 4.7L V8, 4x4, with a 5-speed.

Bikes fit in it just fine, but if you didn't have a hill to back up to, boy was it a PIA to load. I sold it when I came to Italy

With gas prices over $6/gallon here it just wasn't worth it

There is something infinitely comforting in knowing that if you get stuck somewhere you have the means to get the bike home again.

That reminds me, I really need a trailer.

Fortunately I haven't needed it yet, but it came in handy this summer when my dad visited a friend of his two hours west of here and managed to get a flat tire. It was infinitely easier to ride that C50 onto that trailer than it was loading his FLHTC into the back of his F150 back in the day.

It is just my opinion, but it's a really good one.....
Cars suck. Trucks are much more comfortable to drive, you sit in them rather than recline like most cars force you do do. You already have a handle on the cargo advantages. Even a trailer hitch on a modern car is a structural stretch for the chassis, nevermind the fact that you want some weight to the tow vehicle so the trailer isn't driving the car.... so a truck is a better choice here too.

The only thing cars are better at is saving fuel. If that's your main concern, a truck, even a mini truck, is not going to be very impressive.

The kinda chicks I like also dig trucks more than cars......


This is my little dodge 1/2 ton. It carries my bikes just fine with it's shortbox. I have a 12 foot ramp that makes loading easier, but the GSXR still drags it's belly as it rolls off the ramp into the box.

I have the same truck in silver with a longbox and a Cummins that I use for work. It has a full tool box in the bed so it's useless for bike hauling without a trailer.
