I need to change the seals on my forks before I get the bike inspected and I've run into a problem.

I've been trying the separate the fork tube and the slider but they won't come apart. I have the snapring out and the alan bolt out of the bottom of the slider. When I try to pull them apart they get stuck, stuck to the point where I have to beat the tube with a hammer and block to free it.

Is there a problem with the tube or is there something still holding it up that I missed. This tube has the TRAC system on it, would that have anything to do with it?

on the ones i have worked on with the TRAC you do not have to remove it to replace the seal.
push the tube down and jerk it out hard several times until it pulls the seal out.
