I'm in the process of getting a bike and stuff......just got my closed track licence here in montreal Quebec. I havent been on the streets but i am allowed to go if i ride with someone who has their licence for 2 yrs and blah balha.....but my question is.....let's say.......
Your riding home from work and your on a jammed street downtown and traffic isnt moving.....are u legally aloud to go between cars?

riding between cars that are moving (lane splitting) is illegal.
I cant imagine you would ever be fined for it, but if you got nailed by a car and survived it, while splitting lanes with moving traffic, i think you would be voiding your insurance and you would legally take the blame even if some puck cut you off.
I lane split moving traffic when I deem it safe to do so, ie; plenty of room inbetween the cars and the cars have to be packed tightly in their lanes so that they cant move over on you. if there are spaces in the traffic/lanes that can be filled by cars i tend to wait and see.

Here in Naples you MUST lane Split. It's safer than riding with slower traffic usually.
The Italian drivers actually SEE motorcycles on the road, wheras we're invisible to most North American riders so i feel pretty safe doing it ...

Not allowed to in Alberta, I know that. You'll have to ask your MSF instructor. There are definately times I wish I could.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
