hi,
i'm buying the bike from this guy who has a huge shop and sells tons of bikes, he's like a used motorcycle dealer.....so i know the 2005 ninja ex500 i'm getting is gonna be good as far as engine goes......but i was curious.....is there anything for motorcycles that gives you past records? like carfax.com but for motorcycles?

Motorcycles are so "disposable" for the most part, that I'd be surprised if there is such a service...
Folks do their own work and dis-assemble/reassemble motorcycles in their garage after wrecking cause they can't afford to go through insurance (or they'd get cancelled).
That said, anything seriously wrong is going to be quickly noticable. One advantage of two wheels. A reputable dealer should have already made certain that the bike you're buying is safe for the road.

I tried Carfax with a motorcycle vin # and failed. I think it depends on the bike itself. I'm buying a 1985 Yamaha FZ750 that has been garaged for the last 3 years. For something like that you'd have to check if the fluids and tank were drained, see how bad the frame and parts have corroded and all that good stuff. Since yours is a 2005 then you probably won't even have to worry, unless the bike was used to race and it losses compression.

I'd say check the title but if it's a dealer selling it that's not going to be an issue.
