George and his tax consultants are working on eliminating the interest as a tax-deductible item. Looks like just another measure to impoverish the middle class and pay for the Iraq-Nam war. The miserable SOB and his entire bloodline.

well there is a bright side to it.
the supreme court fixed it so that if you voice any unhappiness about the new tax rule the government can declare your land imminent domain and simply take it from you.

Boo Hoo!

We've never had that luxury up here. Next thing you know, you will be using the metric system and saying "eh" alot. We are taking over.....

It's a trial balloon. W does this all the time. If the reaction is strongly negative, it just goes away. Ironically, the home mortgage deduction was a part of the original Income Tax bill. Anything from the White House on tax reform is some variation on: deductions for those contributing to the Republican party, and increases for ordinary working folks. Anything from the White House on Social Security reform is some variation on: how can transfer this huge pot of money to Wall Street, which is making so many contributions to our campaign coffers. Good read on the latter is "Raw Deal" by Joe Conason. Bob
