Is anybody in the US paying on a mortgage?
George and his tax consultants are working on eliminating the interest as a tax-deductible item. Looks like just another measure to impoverish the middle class and pay for the Iraq-Nam war. The miserable SOB and his entire bloodline.

oh god, not the metric system, it may be simpler and more efficent, but i grew up with the starndard system and get confuzzled when i try to switch, so i hope that doesnt happen, eh

It's a trial balloon. W does this all the time. If the reaction is strongly negative, it just goes away. Ironically, the home mortgage deduction was a part of the original Income Tax bill. Anything from the White House on tax reform is some variation on: deductions for those contributing to the Republican party, and increases for ordinary working folks. Anything from the White House on Social Security reform is some variation on: how can transfer this huge pot of money to Wall Street, which is making so many contributions to our campaign coffers.
