why am I tilting my head?
why am I tilting my head?
I have been told several times by people who have ridden behind me that I seem to keep my head tilted to the right while riding. Why am I doing this? Now I'm paranoid about it.
Has anyone else ever seen anyone doing this?
Just anxious for your thoughts on the subject.
Thanks,

Do you have saddle bags? I ask because in following a fellow, heavily loaded rider, I noted that she was sitting sideways on her bike.
Asked at a stop and she noted that one of her side cases was loaded more heavily than the other and her bike wanted to go to one direction, so she was compensating by shifting her weight to the to other side.
Just another detail to think about when packing up those sidebags.

That is something to think about. But on the occasions that I have been told I was doing the head tilt thing I had nothing other than a small tailbag with only rain gear inside.
Lots of people walk around with their head slightly tilted and if you put a helmet on them it would be more noticeable.
I've seen quite a number of people who ride with their heads tilted. I think I do sometimes too, I don't take much notice of it.
Now! If I saw someone riding around looking like Igor, with their head tilted right over on their shoulder, I would comment, but you don't mean like that do you?

...nope not like that, but I do sometimes laugh just like Renfield (ha!) so maybe I am a little weird (thanks). Guess I'll go get my eyes checked. Now! I've been told I ride slightly crooked. I think though it's just an illusion, because my right foot peg is sort of halfway under part of the engine or something. I don't have a mechanical vocabulary. It's the thing where the oil goes. So anyway, my right foot is out farther on the peg than the left, making it appear I'm sitting off to one side.
But either way, if it works for you doesn't matter how it looks!

Depends what else you do, head tilt is typically the result of the muscles on one side or your neck either being tighter as a result of stress, OR one side is weaker due to poor posture.
Really, there's not much you can do about it, so don't concern yourself overmuch. Most everyone does it.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

If we ever ride together and your head tilts to the right I'm slamming on the brakes and pulling over. Talk about a good reason to practise emergency braking.9000white wrote:my head tilts to the right when i go to sleep while riding.
