Quick Insurance Question

#1 Unread post by GiddyBOI »

I read here and there that one can put insurance unter one's guardian's name....is that true? How does that work exactly? If i have a bad record and at a young (expensive) age...i can put it under my dad's name if his record is cleaner??

thanks

only way ya dad could do it here is if he insured it and nominated you as a rider

but

as soon as he nominates you his premiums will rise and if you bin it he would have to pay an enormous excess cause you were the rider, which really negates the point of him insureing it for you in the first place.

dont know if thats how it works in canada or the USA though

It might be different considering it's a motorcycle. They're not just adding you to your parents' policy, but a vehicle that is most likely not considered a family vehicle. The only way to know for sure is to call an insurance agency - call a couple of them to get the best rates available. There's no real way for any of us to know, as this is a very specific situation. Good luck!
