I work at a grocery store and it is packed all the time. Is it likely it will be stolen right out of the parking lot? Can people actually pick up a motorcycle with their bare hands? Or 2 people for that matter? Its a rich neighborhood but I am sitll worried. What are some precautions? Also my school I am not that worried becuase there are security guards around alot and I leave at lunch and it is a rich type of school. Should I be worried?

Probably not.
Can people actually pick up a motorcycle with their bare hands?
Dependent on weight.
Or 2 people for that matter?
Yes.
What are some precautions?
Park under a light, near a busy section, near the front.

I would worry if it is sports bike, or fancy Harley, but otherwise they are not likely to take the chance of yanking a bike that does not fit the popular profile. Most of these bikes get chopped apart from what I hear, so they are looking for the most popular and expensive bikes. Park in the most visible spot, and if you can move near something to chain it to, even better. Also, a cover seems silly, but it hides what the bike is, and makes it hard to grab - making someone almost have to remove the cover to pick up the bike. If you often park at work consider a $50 cover to leave at work.

Sportsbikes seem to be the most likely targets, and more often than not your bike will be stripped down and parted out to racers, stunters, and others who accept a no-questions-asked policy on the parts they're buying.

Duno about that, but it's a good choice for a first bike.could always bring a bike lock and chain it to a lamp post or tree.

I have seen a bike stolen out side a supermarket in the middle of the day.
It really just depends where you live.

There are always odd situations. In most cases they are hunting for certain bikes. But there may be guys who will steal any bike they see. Best practice is to put your bike in a hard to get to spot, lock it down, cover it up, and have it in view of others.
AND I've said before and I'll say it again - insure your bike and have the deductable available if you need it.
