Hi all,
Planning on bying a new 2005 - 1100 V-star classic and wondering if yamaha has done anything about the starters twisting bolts issue. I've read about the problem on numerous posts on different boards and it doesn't sound like a cheap repair when it does happen, anyone know how long it takes before this becomes a problem, or is there anything one can do to prevent the problem from happening in the first place ( besides getting a different bike )
had a used classic out for a test ride last weekend and it sure changed my mind about getting the 750 Aero, which is what i was originally planning on getting. any help greatly appreciated, thanks

I ride a 2004 Midnight Silverado and haven't had a lick of problems like that. I have other concerns though. Especially engine noise. Don't know if its a problem or not.
So far it keeps running and I keep riding.

buy the bike

or buy a suzuki C50 instead - radiator, fuel injected, plastic fenders.

I saw the same post on the vstar forum Canukskie - the folks there gave you a very detailed, knowledgeable explanation on what is happening with the starter.

More detailed than you will get here (sorry folks).

What more are you looking for?

got to ride her home today, it was one SWEET ride, a little chilly, but very nice. Very happy with the choice and looking forward to more nice days.
Really like the ride, the way it handles, the weight is not bad at all, and has all the power i need. Will have all winter to mod the pipes and other minor add-ons and she'll be ready for lots of riding once the snow has come and gone. See you guys on the road.
