Good road test of starter bikes.

#1 Unread post by DivideOverflow »

Ive been on information overdrive the past week since I am looking into getting a motorcycle. I found this article, which may be helpful in the decision of a first bike for newcommers that want a cruiser:

I am thinking of picking up an Alpha Sport GV250 after I take my MSF. I am impressed with all of the reviews I have read, and it seems like the best choice for an entry-level cruiser for me. What interests me is that it was the biggest of the bunch, the riders over 6'0 had no issues with it (I am 6'0 ~220), it matched the Virago in the power department, and it has the best gauges of the bunch!

Unfortunately, I have yet to see any used ones in my area due to their relatively new status. The cheapest I found in my area was about $3,700 for a new one. If I was a smaller rider, I would probably settle for one of the others used for about half the price (after tax tag and title putting it around 4k at a dealer).

Also, anyone know of a service for finding used local bikes besides cycletrader.com?

have you tried bikepoint.com? they are a pretty good place to start, and of course theres always ebay......good old ebay :) and if your into a loe-tech way of finding stuff, then you can always give the local newspaper the look-through. good luck, hope you score what you're looking for![/quote]
Go fast on something not meant for it. Then you'll understand the true meaning of speed.
