Ok guys I really need some opinions on this one.........I am getting a new bike in February and I cannot decide between these two bikes.

2002-2005 Honda VFR Interceptor (used)
2002-2005 Honda 919 (used)

Has anyone ridden or does anyone own one of these bikes and if so how did you like it.......performance, handling, fun factor etc. I know that one is a inline 4 (919) and the other a V4 V-Tec (VFR) but how does that effect the attitude of the bike? Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated, right now I own a 1995 honda nighthawk 750 and it is the only bike I have ever ridden other than my dad's goldwing so my knowledge of different bike is pretty much nothing other than what I read through reviews and stuff like that. Thanks Everyone!!!!

As in most situations, it'll come down to personal preference. Sit on both, one will be more comfy and speak to you. Both are excellent, reliable bikes. The 919 will have a bit more upright riding position but won't have the wind protection the fairing on the Interceptor provides. You can't go wrong with either bike. Personally I'd go for the Interceptor, it's a classic and classy machine, and I love Honda's V-4's. Smooth as silk. Both bikes would serve well for commuting and fun riding.

You'll have to do some more digging to find out what the differences in maintenance would be, that may help in your decision. Also check the insurance rates for each, that may also play a part.

Follow-up... did a little research of my own since your choices intrigued me. Best descriptor I saw for the Interceptor was "softcore sportbike", though don't let the word 'softcore' sink in very far. Easy to put bags on and ride across country if you wanted to, enough power to make accelerating fun and plenty capable in the twisties. The 919 might be described as more of a "hooligan" type bike, although it could easily do that same cross country trip if you wanted.

Found a pic of a sweet Interceptor rigged for traveling...

I've never ridden a 919, but I own it's little brother the 599 and I have to say I love this bike.

There's a couple things about it that may or may not be selling features... it has a very short wheel base for a bike, so it turns really easily. It has no fairing, and I'm having a "dog" of a time getting a windscreen. However, I've found it to be immensely comfortable (for me). And I've put over 7200km on it in a single season. Considering I don't have the time off to tour this seems a substantial number to me.

I also love the styling, there isn't another bike that looks anything like it out there. Has a pretty devoted following over at http://www.hondahornet.co.uk which might be worth checking out
