Frustrating and sad news story!

Read the local paper today about a young driver who's recklessness not only caused serious injuries to two bikers, but the death of a rider(passenger). The reason this is a frustrating story is that the driver doesn't even have a license and this is the fifth time he's been caught!

He seemingly did a U-turn in front of the bikers, then proceeded to stop his car in the middle of the road so he could find his cellphone!

What makes this story even sadder is that the bikers had been drinking.

You can read my summary of the story in my blog or the entire story in the Sun Sentinel

As riders we have to be so careful out there, watch the road and stay sober!

This is a great illustration of my feeling that when drivers and bikers are equally stupid, the bikers pay the higher price. We have to be smarter and more alert when we are on the road.

both bike riders were charged with driving under the influence.
sounds like a case of attempted suicide to me.

So after his first 'incident', why was he not deported back to his place of origin? Why fine him and turn an illegal alien loose again? Sounds like Canada.......

The article did say that there was no way the acident could have ben avoided, but wherever alcohol is involved things go wrong.

No Boats and Booze
No Boxes and Booze
No Bikes and Booze
No Bullets and Booze.

feel free to add to the list.

.....
No babes and booze.

When that happens somebody always wakes up next to a regret.

And somebody wakes up disappointed.

I agree that the bikers were just plain stupid to be riding after they'd been out for a drink (evidently) it was one of the riders birthday, but whats most upsetting is that his kid was allowed to be out on the roads (let alone in the country).

He'd been ticketed four previous times, most of those for causing accidents through reckless driving. It's bad enough we should have to watch for people who somehow proved to the state that they knew how to operate a vehicle, but this guy hadn't even bothered with the test and consequently having a license!!!

It's ridiculous that the laws have had those loopholes for so long. I hope at least that this spurs some legislations to make driving without a license, especially repeats, a more serious offense.

We have a huge illegal immigrant population here. They drive with stolen plates, no license, no insurance and a study was released just recently that they caused our accident and drunk driving rates to jump 72% in 5 years. Of course the people who released the study were immedeiately branded racists and cast to the dogs, but the fact is that most of them never drove a car until they got here.

I have nothing against legals, but if your illegal and your caught you need to be deported.
