what does bhp mean???

I always thought it was brake horsepower. Or the HP that is generated at the wheel, as opposed to at the crank where you haven't lost any in the drivechain.

bhp is brake horsepower... It refers to the brake dynamometer, the device for measuring the true power of the engine. Stating power in 'bhp' gives some indication that this is a true reading, rather than a calculated or predicted one. However, it does not tell where the power reading was taken — at the flywheel, transmission or drive wheels.

Most of the time, manufacurers will test at the crank and call it bhp. If you see it from a manufacturer, it is safe to assume that it is measured from the crank, and does not include drivetrain losses. I haven't known any manufacturers to actually test from the wheels.

your prolly right but im sure ive seen manufactures getting all excited by dyno results, or maybe not

they usually dyno the engine by itself. it makes their numbers look better.
