Got There.. At Last!

#1 Unread post by Henriettaah »

Good news to report, folks - I got my CBT certificate today

This is the second go after being ripped off by another school, basically... lets just say that Trading Standards and the Driving Standards Agency are to be involved

Instructor said in the morning after a little bit of the yard practicing that he couldn't understand how they (old school) could say what they did (i.e. failure!)

It really was very cold, and to make it worse was very blustery indeed  I felt like an old creaky wreck when I got off. But he was very happy with how I went on, and said I did really well! (I bet he says that to everyone  )

Had a horrid moment on a roundabout, with a massive lorry on my left, I was turning right, and as I pulled away, my visor steamed up and the sun was totally in my eyes making a double blinder :?

The low sun was in fact one of the worst bits, as it is totally blinding sometimes. To such a degree I was slowing down and thinking "Oh Gawd, please, nothing come out of that side road"... as I could literally see nothing for a few seconds. Not nice.

And yes, there were the usual fools and idiots doing stupid things in their cars around me.. and the odd pedestrian making a run for it. As if I'm not obviously a very learner rider, as if I'm not obviously under instruction! When we first set off on the roads, I was wanting a big orange flashing light on my head with a massive sign saying "Keep well back... leave me alone!" But by the end of it felt more relaxed about it all. Favourite thing was using the footbrake while using the throttle through left or right turns in second *lol* Made it feel very relaxed, smooth and under control, with a great tidy turn!

All in all, really pleased to be able to wear my 'L's. And with pride, I can tell you. Its taken a while, and been a bit of a journey to get here. And not just a couple of weeks...

Well that's awsome to hear. Rebuilt your own bike, and now you get to ride it. Amazing. I'm glad this place didn't try to screw you to, I hope that you get your money back or something. I would be really pissed off if that was me. Then again I was really bad when I first took my test.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure you don't need advice other then the obvious Cagers want you dead for some reason. And they're to oblivious to tell a good rider from a poor one. They lack the knowledge to determine your skill, it's their problem not yours, just keep your eyes open.

The sun can totally suck sometimes I had that problem all summer, I was either riding to work into the sunset, or riding home into the sunrise for 1/2 my shifts. A light tinted visor and some squinting took care of that for me. And it's also light enough to ride at night with my headlight on. If it isn't dark enough during the day throw on a pair of shades and you should be good.

As far as fogging goes, there are a couple of products that some people swear by, personally, I just breath less when I'm at a stop. That and your helmet should have a vent somewhere that will blow a little wind straight up the inside of your visor, this will help stop it from fogging.

Once again, glad to see another rider on the road.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Congratulations. Nice to see another Lady Biker hitting the roads. Ride safe and have fun.
Heaven is a motorcycle, a million miles of road, and all eternity to ride.
Hell is the same scenario, but the bike won't start.

so when you doing your DA?:)
Don't give up.

Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.

If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

Congratulations!

We knew you could do it with minimal drama. Personally, I'd go back to the first place you tested at, wave your licence at them and leave a big cloud of tire smoke wafting past thier door as you leave.... but I'm a little

Enjoy the ride. :righton:
No Witnesses.... :shifty:
