Streetfighter, what is it?

Besides a kick "O Ring" video game.
What does it mean in terms of bikes? I always hear about turning an SV650s into a 'streetfighter' but the photos of it when it's done merely look like a naked SV650 without a windshield. What makes it different and why can only an SV650s turn into a streetfighter? Or why is that the only bike I hear about being converted into one?

Street fighter is typically a sport bike with the fairing removed.
Usually because it's been crashed, and fairings are expensive
Personally I think most of them are pretty ugly.

most of them are ugly, but there are some that look "ok"
this one looks pretty unique

however i don't think it came out like that right after they took the fairing off.....looks like a whole new piece.....i don't even know if it's a street fighter or not because it doesn't look like its missing anything.

many of the current crop of naked bikes are designed to resemble street fighters. The buell XB9 comes the closest as it even has the MX bars

there are some pretty wild bikes on that site. I noticed many of em are based off UJMs not sportbikes. Though with the level of customization it can be hard to tell what the source bike is.
Is there any kind of organization among the streetfighter enthusists in the US.

Wait I thought that's what a 'naked' bike was?
If not, then what's a naked bike referring to?
Edit: Ok so a 'street fighter' is basically just a bike who's fairings have been removed and it's been custom painted/otherwise customised aesthetically?

A naked typically has a more upright seating position, that you would not find on a sport bike

That's why they're usually called naked-standards.

In the same way that putting long forks on and a smaller front wheel is the basic requirement for a Chop, but like Chop's Streetfighters usually have a small mountain of custom detail.
Streetfighters often have perfomance upgrades, nitrous isnt completely unknown!
Yeah, I'll admit it, in the same way that I have a soft spot for muscle cars I have a soft spot for streetfighters...

I noticed bottles on a few of those streetfighters on that site.
the primary difference between a streetfighter and a chop is the streetfighter is designed to be ridden and ridden hard not simply looked at.
carbon fiber fenders and bodywork seem to be popular as is stripping of anything not needed.
Another common touch seems to be extended swingarms like a dragbike has.
