Spring can't come soon enough!

Hello, I'm new here. I am about to get my first bike... I was researching for months, and had finally decided on the vstar650. I wasn't sure if this was the best choice, but now it doesn't matter, as on the weekend I won a brand new, black Vstar650 at the toronto motorcycle show. So I'm still in shock, as I was planning on saving my pennies to buy a used one in the summer. I was already signed up for the training course in the spring... which can't come soon enough.

So, I will be joining your ranks.

Quick question though... I'm 6'4, 200lbs. Is this bike big enough for me?

thanks all.

Congrats and welcome. I think this bike will be fine for you. Since it is free you have some time to decide if you need something a bit bigger without losing any money. Also, have you taken or considered taking a training course. I looked real quick in Toronto and it looks like there are a few options, but sort of pricy. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks man. Yes the training courses here are just like any college course. tuition is about 400 bucks. I'm signed up for april, I won't risk damaging my bike until I've done that:) but it's going to be hard to sit there a look at it for that long.

I have a bro that is around 6' and weighs around 300 and his V-Star 650 flat gets him down the road just fine .
They are sweet scoots imnsho.
Kind regards, Wizzard

Wow! Lucky man! (And how many win-a-bike tickets have I bought or been given at bike shows...?) Glad to know someone actually wins these things.

Well come the spring, hope you enjoy your ride, desper. BTW, size apart, you didn't say whether you actually liked the Vstar. So, is this a starter dreambike, or just something to get you going on?

Either way, welcome to TM. Hope you enjoy whittling away your time here till you can get out on the road.

That's just it... I've been obsessing over this exact bike for a couple months now. The real reason I went to the show in the first place was to sit on one(it's hard to tell how big it is from pictures). I was hanging aroung the vstars for a while talking to the yamaha reps... So you can imagine my surprise when they called me the next morning and told me I won one. I may upgrade to the 1100 once I gain some skills on the 650, but the style of these bikes (like the fatboy) is exactly my personal definition of the perfect bike.

Someone's looking after you, man. Congratulations. 8)
