I took and passed the MSF course and am now looking to get my first bike. I need something that would be good for a beginner but that will allow me some room to grow as well. I'm a big guy, 6'3" and about 285. I am looking for something to cruise on, take to work or jump around town on nice days, and occasionally make the hour and half drive down the NJ turpike to visit my parents. Basically I need something slightly larger, forgiving but still fun, and able to cruise at highway speeds without problem. A nice low price would be good as well, I graduated from college in May so my finances won't allow anything extravagant. Thanks everyone, appreciate your help.

This Thread was 2 posts below yours. He's about the same size, and looking for the same sort of bike. Perhaps the discussion there will help.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
