Well, Chris is riding to work. Temps in the low 30's in the morning. Last night I rode around awhile, and on to church...low 40's. Then a weird thing happened. I guess a cold front moved in, and we both had frost on our bikes...only the seats and windscreens. :? Then when I rode home, it was about 38 degrees out, and my glasses fogged over...then froze! Very strange. I guess the ambient temperature inside my helmet was somehow below freezing. Anyway, let's hear about some cold weather riding. I haven't been out as much this winter (still fall, technically). It's been really windy with the cold, and it isn't much fun, but yesterday was pretty sweet. Right up to the frozen glasses part. I'll wear contacts next time :laughing: .

I ride to work everyday. It was 60 degrees out yesterday. I was freezing.

It was in the low 50's when I rode to work today. Hit about 66 around lunchtime I guess. Should be in the high 50's when i ride home tonite.

I'll ride on the odd nice day that we get here. Tough its usually pretty cold we do get the occasional 60 degree day here

Rode a few days ago, temps ranged from 23F to just above freezing. My '73 Honda CL350 is coated with CorrosionX to prevent salt and chemical damage. I'm running Rotella 0W40 full synthetic oil. Bikes still kick starts easily and runs like a charm. Have had blizzard like conditions lately, so have it parked for now. Plates run out on the 22nd of December so that will be it until spring I suppose.

Where can one get this stuff? Does it come in a spray can? I'll be riding my Ural rig all winter and it could use some protection.

Look down near the bottom for the distributor list, there are a number of Canadian suppliers.

It is available in spray, pump and bulk. I use the general use formulation in the red 16oz spray cans. Two cans have lasted through 3 years of use.

Incidentally, there is also the Canadian version of this product, called Corrosion Block. Problem is, it is not marketed intelligently, therefore hard to acquire. It may be worth a look since its been a while since I gave up on them.

BTW, neat seeing your Ural in winter use. I looked at Urals a few years back, a friend here has a Dneper, too. I also looked into trying to get a Chiang Jang but importing one looked risky. So, I guess I'll hold out for an original BMW R75 :) Soon as I win the big one.

Had mine out last weekend just long enough to get 'er turned over and gassed-up. There's half a foot of snow on the ground at the moment so it'll be a while before she comes out of the garage again.

BTW, tell your friend with the Dnepr to get in touch with Ken Beach at Old Vintage Cranks in Guelph, ON (519-856-2822). He knows those bikes inside and out and was very helpful in getting my '79 MT10-36 roadworthy.

I haven't ridden for a couple of weeks. The last time, I had ridden to work that day, working the 4pm to midnight shift and it rained during the shift, but had stopped by the time I got off. It was about 38 when I left the plant. When I got on the interstate the road felt slippery to me for some reason. I don't know if there was a "skim" of ice on the wet road, or if it was oil coming up from the highway, but the bike felt "squirly" so I held my speed down, and got off the interstate as quick as I could. Luckly traffic was light that night.

I got on Rt-1 and the road dried out north of Ashland (Va.) but the temp was dropping. The air was really damp, and it seemed to cut right through me, especially my hands. I had ridded at colder temps, but the humidity made the temp seem much colder.

I also had a problem with my face shield. It would fog up and not clear even when I opened it fully. The air was just so damp that the moisture wouldn't evaporate. So I had to ride most of the way home with my visor about half open. It was that or not see. I stopped several time to let my hands warm up, and finally made it home about a half hour later than normal. The temp gage on my Majesty's dash was reading 26 degrees by then. The last 20 miles or so of the trip were pretty miserable.

Haven't ridden it since. We've had snow, rain, and cold since them, but I hope to get it out today and at least ride a little bit.
