 hi, ive got a CB500 1999 twin in v good condition i recently bought, its been sitting in the garage while i pass my test. I recently tried to start it and it doesnt, it turns over fine, petrol is ON, battery is new and full, all lights etc side stand are fine. Ive tried starting without choke, with choke and without choke then choke and had no luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before this a few days before i tried to start it and the exhaust made a banging sound like gunshot and sparks came out. I am mucho unhappy as all my other bikes have neverhad this problem.     :frusty: :frusty:[/img]

I believe it is floaded meaning you have too much feul in the intake and cylinders. let it set for a while than try to start with out using the choke and maybe even open the throttle up while cranking engine. I think the bike is a good bike. It just has starting problems. Good luck.

How long was it standing for, you may have to change the fuel, and drain the carbs and clean them, if its been a while the jets could be blocked and the floats stuck, not a big deal, just take your time and take them apart, clean everything with carb cleaner and a peice of firm thin wire to clean out the jets, best of luck and happy christmas,

also fopr whats its worth change the plugs

If there was no stabilizer put in it though...it's possibly it could have gummed things up already...it can take as little as 3 weeks...
