bobbing out an 86 maxim

#1 Unread post by zamboya »

no doubt i'm gonna take grief for this, but i love my maxim. absolutely love it. problem is - i don't like sitting up so high, so i'm looking at lowering the seat a few inches, putting some new bars on and putting some fatter tires in.

the more i study the clearance i have on the rear, and the specs on the factory rim - i'm thinking i can just go ahead an get a bigger tire for the rear. but i'm not looking to do that just yet.

what i'm most interested in, is putting a fatter tire on the front. right now i've got a 110-90 and i'd like to put something bigger on it.

my question therefore is this: i probably need to get a different front rim to handle that, but am i going to have to do a serious amount of modification to the top? meaning - pull the forks out a couple of extra inches to make room for this mod?

thoughts? comments? suggestions? anything would be appreciated - thanks!
