Went to the Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki dealership

#1 Unread post by pinger05 »

Yesterday I had to cancel a Dr. Appointment due to insurance problems which left me in town with nothing to do. So what did I do? Looked at motorcycles!

My normal day at work leaves me about 20 minutes or so to check out websites of certain manufactures. I spend a lot of time looking at the yamaha line of motorcycles. My personal favorite is the YZF-R1. It not only looks cool but it is fast.:kewl:

Yesterday I saw one in person at the dealership....what a dissapointment. :soapbox:

Some of the other bikes I saw that were dissapointments were:

1) Kawasaki Concours (I still like the Concours but it wasnt what I though it would be in person)
2) Yamaha V-Star Custom 1100

Has anyone else had an experience like mine where they had a bike they lliked in pictures and then saw it in person and were dissapointed?

Not really, but sportbikes tend to be a lot smaller in person than they appear in pictures or ads. They must hire 7th graders to sit on them for photos.

They do seem small. The 1000rr i sat on seemed small (other then a bit taller) then my Rebel. Not sure what the wheel base difference is but they are close.

Not usually, but I have been disappointed many times after test riding that new bike that I thought that I must have. It saves me alot of $$$ though

I can't say I've ever been disappointed, mainly because I have a very narrow range of bikes I actually really like the look of. I was also amazed at how small most sportbikes really are the first time I saw a row of them on a dealer floor. Same goes for some of the new giant cruisers, too, only in the opposite direction. Ever sat on a Rune???

One bike in particular that really sticks out as being more than anticipated from pics is the big V-Strom. That baby is tall!!!

Whenever I had the hots for a bike, or a couple of them, I read everything available about them for months before actually looking at them. I have never been disappointed because I always knew about the bike beforehand.
