clutch adjustment

i recently got a bike

and the clutch feels loose, how would i go about tightning it? the bike is a '98 sportster. help would be good, seeing as how both me and my dad dont really know much about the mechanics of bikes.

I'm not familiar with that bike but.....
There should be an adjuster either at the clutch lever or at mid-cable.
Do you have an owners manuel or better yet a service manuel is necissary if you're going to work on it yourself.

I've had several different types/models of bikes. The second (sometime the first) thing I get is a manual for the particular bike I have. This accomplishes at least 2 things...
1. less expensive to do your own maintenance
2. satisfaction of being able to do your own maintenance

I'm gonna get a manual soon, that will be the first thing im lookin for in it.
