Check this price on a V-star

The dealer has:

2005 V-Star 1100 custom.

He has added:
DG Hard Krome Kickers pipes
New controls
Chrome mirrors
Gel grips.

But he has also added:

Less than 1000 km, put on by staff going around town.

And he wants:

The MSRP.

My dilemna is:

Although there's stuff added, most dealers I shopped at during the Summer time (obviously, the hot season for sales) were offering me a price below the MSRP on a brand new machine with 0 kms.

In particular, there was a demo in August at another dealer and they wanted 1500 less than the MSRP.

Am I wrong, or is this a bit much?

MSRP is the price that they go off of. You can haggle it down, certiainly, but from what I understand, if you can get MSRP and not a bunch of crappy surcharges (IE 'assembly and packaging') then you're doing alright.

Try to talk him down on the price. If he wont budge then look elsewhere for a brand new bike.

If you are going to pay MSRP get a 0km bike. Then put the accessories YOU want on it.

I would start by asking him to produce the stock pipes that belong to the bike. If you don't happen to like his choice of pipes that he installed, you will be looking at least at a $1,500.00 touch to return the bike to original. Perhaps he sold them and pocketed the money?

Personally, I would deal in terms of MSRP on a new stock unit only.
