Well, I bought her this Spidi Pantera jacket about six months ago, because she loved the styling...

Then I installed a Reynolds backrest/rear-rack on my BMW R80

Then we went out and got matching Nolan N-102 helmets (and spidi gloves for her)

and FINALLY, yesterday we went for a ride together! I have been riding for quite a while and my wife has always been nervous about my riding, and has seen it as a waste of time and money. Well, after all this expenditure of money on her behalf, she figured "Well I better give it a try." And you know what - SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

I was ready to stop for the day, and she still wanted to ride to the Restaurant for Dinner!!

And here's the most pleasant surprise of all - She's a natural Pillion. The didn't wiggle around, or try to lean or counter the bike's leaning ... And that backrest is great because it gives her something to lean back and hold on to, so our helmets aren't clacking and she doesn't have a death grip on my waist...

What a pleasant surprise. After all this time ... I think we will finally be able to spend some quality time together instead of me going out for a ride and her staying at home or whatever ... Fun times ahead

After spending 20 years in the dirt by my self and then getting back on the road with the Goose as pillion, let me tell you that we have had more adventures and quality time together than at any other time in our 27 years together. 80% of my riding is with the Goose and I would not want it any other way. I am really pleased that this has come right for you and wish you many happy kms together. You can start planning those long trips now.

Thats great news! I'd like to take my wife for a ride, but I wouldnt dare put her back there with my current riding experience.

Good point there CNF2002. At what point in time does a "newbie" feel comfortable enough to carry a pillion? I'd love to get my wife out for a ride but having never carried a pillion, I'm not sure when that comfort level arrives. The last thing I want to do is have my wifes riding experience to be a bad one.

Get one of your buddies to volunteer.

Good for you Techbmw. My wife has her own bike, but most of the time she'd just as soon ride with me.

Way to go TechBMW. My spouse & I have been riding for so many yrs together I don't notice the diff now. She's also had her own motorcycle for 20 + yrs too. We take vacation time and usually take both bikes, and we still have the Fed Ex packages back home. Yes its always better to have a loved one to share the experience with. One point, NEVER, EVER say anything about helmet hair!

That's really kewl Techie . I packed my spousette for many years and we both loved it . And ever since she started riding her own scoots it's gotten even better and that's a fact .

My wife rode with me for the first time New Year's Eve. We took a 120 mile, 3 hour trip around the hills of Central Ark. She hasn't asked when we can go again, but I know she had good time. My youngest daughter (13) rides alot with me. The oldest (17) is currently too cool. Hopefully she'll be ready for another ride soon!
