Got my electrical problem fixed. A new main fuse in and it turns over just fine thank you. Now onto new air filter, oil and filter change, new valve cover gaskets, final drive grease and bearing check, brake check(front and rear).
Have a ? re: fuel petcock. At present it leaks when in fuel position(I ussually leave it on reserve for this reason) and I was wondering if it could just be the o-ring needs changing. Iam hoping this could be the simple solution. Anyone fixed a leaking fuel petcock before.

It might be a prob w/ the o-ring... Check on parts availability ... sometimes you just have to buy a new petcock because the rebuild kit's not available.

It's an 83 cb650 nighthawk. Has 50,000 klicks on it and is still running fine. Well okay some cam chain noise but I'm not enough of a mechanic to fix that

and the bike shop wants more than the bike is worth to fix it.
