84 Nighthawk purchase question

#1 Unread post by kar_the_terrible »

A guy near me is selling his 84 nighthawk. I like the look of this bike and heard from a friend who owns one that they arer pretty good rides. this particular one has 21k miles on it and requires some TLC including a non working horn and a turn signal.

I hear these bikes have hydraulic valve lifters and all that jazz so maintenance isnt such a big hassle at all.

What is the general opinion about this model of motorcycle... <pic included>

Had one. Loved it.

The turn signal stalks become dry over time and break really easily. I got a brand new one at the dealer for, I think, ten bucks or so.

Between the shaft drive and the hydraulic lifters, those bikes are as close to maintenance-free as a bike can get. Nice suspension and brake package makes it fine for town riding as well as out in the twisties. Overall, I think it's an excellent multi-purpose ride.
