Before someone gets their feelings hurt....

A quick read of some current topics might cause some folks to believe we all hate Harley-Davidsons, and by association, those who ride them.
I can just picture Gummi and OzzyAL grittin' their teeth lately.....
While I admit that most of their line-up is utterly appalling to me, I can say the same thing about any manufacturer's line-up. I'm a picky plick.
But that don't mean I have any less respect for those who do happen to like any of the bikes I don't. Riding a bike I like don't gain you any more respect either.... in fact it will probably create jealousy and thereby lower your standing.......
And if someone making a joke about your bike offends you, I will apologize now for my part. I'm as guilty as anyone for this. But that's all I'll do. I'm sorry anyone is offended by a statement about a bike they didn't design and build.
But I am pretty sure most people here can tell no real malice is meant by most of them. Those that are made with venom are just as obvious and tend to evoke the same response from everyone, brand be damned.
So don't take it personal, eh, guys.

Eh Alpinestar sucks.
And I'd like to point out that schoolbusyellow dude. He was ragging on Harley's because they were Harley's and the whole board jumped on him.

I find it funny that people get so uppity about their brand anyway. I'm a total bike mean (will that word make it past the censor?)... if it's got two wheels and moves under it's own power, I'm bound to like it. I like H-D just fine. In fact, there a few H-D's I'd own in a heartbeat if money weren't an issue... it's just that I'm practical enough to realize that I won't be filling my garage up with bikes anytime soon, so I look for what is most fitting for my needs. Someday there will be a H-D sitting in my garage, it's just going to sit next to a couple other bikes that I had to own first.

Can't speak for Ozzy but, yes, I have been biting my lip a lot lately. I've been searching many years for a forum that is truly non-brand specific, one where ALL motorcyclists are welcomed and tolerated. I had thought Total Motorcycle was that forum, but now I'm not so sure. When moderators themselves engage in Harley bashing and members are allowed to have anti-Harley statements in their sig lines, it really doesn't help matters any. Oh, wait, that's right - it's "all in good fun", isn't it?

I think it's time for me to move on.

I can't speak for TMW or the community as a whole, despite whatever 'powers' you think a moderator has here, but I can, do and will speak for myself.
I spose we could censor everybody's sig lines so that absolutely nobody is in any way slighted. Not too hard to see where that ends up..... no sig lines at all for anybody. Very P.C.
And then of course we can't have anybody posting anything they actually think, or worse, happened. Someone else will disagree. More tender emotions trampled.....
I'm not hear to hold anybodies hand or tell them what to say or think. Mostly I'm here to keep everyone from turning every topic into a name calling match. If somebody making fun of your favorite brand(no matter what that brand is) offends you, that's really more your problem than mine. If he is insulting you personally, then it becomes my problem. Until that point, I kinda expect you to hold your own, since I give most folks credit for being able to hold their own conversations. You certainly are.
You do alot of talking about this non brand-specific-ness you seek. But from here, it looks like you perpetrate almost as much as you delight in pointing out in that department.
To me, it seems you don't enjoy some of the good natured camaraderie that occurs here on occasion, for your own reasons. That's your prerogative. If you want to take statements not directed at you personally as an attack, that's also your right, I guess. But if you think your going to affect what I express in my posts, your sadly mistaken. You being offended by anything except a Harley asskiss is not going to change what I(or anybody else) post.
Or am I wrong? I'm not prepared to toss out this possibility either. It's happened before......

You have got to be "procreating" kidding me... did I read that right? Are you saying I instigate brand bashing? Show me the thread(s) where I have done this. Show me just ONE THREAD where I have bashed ANY bike. Have you even read ANY of my posts? WTF??!!
BuzZz wrote:To me, it seems you don't enjoy some of the good natured camaraderie that occurs here on occasion, for your own reasons.
Good natured cameraderie, yes, I DO enjoy. Brand-bashing, no. Big difference.

Again, way off the mark. You really don't see where I'm coming from, do you? I don't care whether you like Harleys or not. I just do not see the need for you or anyone else to brand-bash, regardless of the make of bike. You would be receiving the same responses from me if it were Urals or Triumphs or Kawasaki Drifters (or any other bike that I have owned) that were being bashed. However, it seems that Harleys are the most popular choice. This is not the first time I have tried to address this issue:

Yes. Totally. Which surprises me, because I always thought we saw things the same way.

I'd expect nothing less from you, Al.

Actually, I'd miss it.

I'll agree with that. Always have anyways....

To me, that is an excellent starting point for a kickass bike, once you toss all that front bodywork and put some decent bars on it. I think most other people would call it an '06 GSXR... a 600 I think, but it's pretty hard for me to tell the displacements apart anymore.......

I'm looking forward to taking an MT-01 for a test ride this summer, myself...... 'gaaaaa...uum, torque......'

Personally I ride a Yamaha scooter for goodness sake. If anyone wants to bash my choice, feel free to. I got what I wanted and don't care what someone else thinks of it, because I know it's right for me at this point in my life. Who knows. I might buy something else later, or I might not.
Yes. I laugh at Harley jokes. If you got any good scooter jokes, feel free to post 'em. I'll laugh right along with you.
