First Bike indecisiveness

Pulling my hair out here trying to decide which sportbike to go with as a first bike. Torn between GSX-R600 & YZF-R6.
My uncle with 20 years riding experience, and many reviews and websites have said to avoid the big 4 of the 600s and try something like Yamaha's YZF600R or Honda's CBR600F4i. Please someone help me out with any comments and suggestions you may have. Are the Gixxers and R6s truly a No-No as a first bike or can they in fact be forgiving beginner bikes as well. Greatly appreciate any and all help I get from this.

Welcome to the forum Rayza. As Wizzard said, ultimately, the decision is yours and yours alone. However, in browsing through the forum you'll find much useful information as to which is the best bike to start out on. And in general, you'll be steered away from anything 600-wise as far as sportbikes go.
Check out the sticky on 600 sportbikes in the Motorcycle Safety, Security and Rider Tips Forum.

Good thing you are asking. That's a smart thing to do. Find out as many opinions as you can and make your decision based upon the information you gather.
I always send new riders here:

Read it. Check it out. See what you think.
Good luck in whatever you pick.

If this is your first bike, I would not recommend the latest 600cc bike, and not the F4i or the YZF. I would start out on either the Ninja 500 or the Suzuki GS500. Great bikes to start on. Don't worry, they look good and have enough power to get you excited, but not enough to get you in too much trouble!
Secondly, get a used one. You will drop it. It's not a question of if, but when. Nothing hurts more than watching, and hearing, your new $10,000 pride and joy bounce on the pavement!
Before you buy ANY bike, get an insurance quote first! This may help you make your decision. For newbys, the insurance can be more than the bike!
Check it out first.
And be sure to take a course! It may also help in obtaining insurance.
Good luck and welcome to the great world of motorcycling!

Get an SV suzuki or Kawasaki Z750 or even a 519or whatever the honda small eurocruiser/naked is. a couple reasons: not as much money new /to insure/or when you bounce and the engine is tuned down a little a little bit less snappy
