Bikes for a Returner

Hi all!
I am just about to return to riding after many years away.
I have signed up for a course and am now looking for a bike.
Having read through the advice in this forum I now have a good idea what to look for However no one has mentioned any of the big scooters,
Bergman, Silver Wing etc. Are these good machines for a returner or not?

I think any of the Maxi-Scooters are good for someone who has experience on any kind of bike. They are automatic, so there is no clutch-control to learn, you just twist and go.

Yeah, I concur. When the Taiwanese and Koreans are coming out with big cc scooters they are recognising the market for them. Scooters have a very low C of G and inspire confidence because of the lack of learning the friction zone and they do not fall easily. I have ordered this 250
But they do a 500 as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that scooters are a bit twitchy compared to motorcycles due to their smaller wheels.

Got to disagree Zoo, the first ones my kids had were yes but these new ones are very stable now. My daughter begged me for the CBR 125 and after looking at it and seeing the front on profile, which is non existent, I declined in favour of the Kazuma 125 scooter. Its heavier, has much more road presence and is very stable from 2 to 90kph. Have test ridden the Grand little(Vista) and the characteristics are very similar other than a lttle more weight and 130 kph. A lot of the bigger scooters are fitting windsheilds now because they are getting quicker and the sheilds also help with the aerodynamics. They are going beyond the schoolboy(girl) market and aiming at the big people market now.
