DUMPED it again!!!!

my 2nd dump!

went to jack in the box to buy breakfast at 2 pm. i got a breakfast burrito to go, put it in my jacket, zipped it up and got on the bike....

anyway, i was going uphill

came to a complete stop on the uphill because of the cars coming down the other way.....

stayed at friction point to keep the bike from not rolling back...

put in in 1st...

then i noticed i went to far about before initiating the lean so i leaned to the point where i think i could've kneed my left leg...

then i realized i have to gear up to 2nd...

geared up, still looking in the irection of the turn(got it from MSF)...

i noticed the bike was slowing down so i reved it move...

still nothing, i looked down and saw the neutral light was on...

so withought rolling off the throtle i put her in 2nd...

the bike started wobbling like crazy...

it wobbled around 4 or five times...

then BOOM, it fell to the right...

with my right ankle stuck under the exaust...(luckily i had my boots on)

i pulled my leg so hard but couldn't get in out...

when i looked at i, my was in a VERY weird position that i thought it was broken...

i tried pushing the bike off me but hed no luck...

NOTE that during this whole thing, there were 2 cars behind the red light of the street which i was turning into...

i could only see one of them becuase of the angle i was in, i couldt move....she was just staring at me like i was crazy...

then i finally raised my hand and yelled "I NEED HELP!!"...

she got out of her car, i asked her to try to lift the bike so i can get my leg out of there, she was pretty strong but he couldn't lit it enough...that's when like 6 other people showed up from the other car...

they lifted the bike up and i got my leg out...

i asked one of the guys if he could move my bike to the side of the street, he was familiar with the kickstand so he did...

then they asked if i needed an ambulance, i said no thank you, i don't wanna pay $500 for a ride down to the hospital (i didn't actually say that)...

they asked if i could stand or not, i said ya and that i was fine...

so i thanked em all and they left....

i went and sat down on the curb...

noticed my no good fookin jeans ripped and i had a HUGE road rash under my right knee....

and i had a semi-broken right wrist from snoboarding last week(had a temporary cast on, i take it off when i'm riding so i )...now it hurts even more.

so Damaged to me are:
right wrist,
right leg which i can barely stand on,
under right knee.

Damages to the bike:
rear brake pedal mishaped( i never use it anyway, i'll fix it anyway though....just incase)

since it fell on the right handle bar, NO damages to the plastic...GOD, if you're out there and you're reading this, I LOVE YOU!

don't know if i het my helmet or not so back to LAX it is.

i still don't know why i wobbled...was it the water on the ground? the rear tire speed compared to the road speed, or wat?

Here is a little map i drew on paint:
Image

this all happened about 20 minutes ago, i'm gonna go eat my breakfast burrito & hash brown now..if it's not totally destroyted.:(

my leg is also bleeding out of control, should i wrap it up or let it get some air?

would appreaciate any comments.

Well, you were buying breakfast at two in the afternoon, so I imagine today just wasn't your day to begin with. :P

Ouch, sounds like a painful ordeal. If your leg is bleeding as bad as you make it seem, then yeah you should probably clean out with rubbing alcohol and bandage it up. As far as what went wrong with the bike, I'm a complete noob so I can't help you out there. Sorry.

Just a guess... but since you were turning left and the bike fell on the right (is this correct?) you did what's called a high side. I am under the impression that there needs to be power to the rear wheel during a turn to maintain stability. It sounds like you went from no power to maybe too much power. And if the road was wet you had a rear wheel skid of some kind. Does this sound accurate? Maybe I misunderstood your story.

I'm glad you weren't hurt seriously. Don't let it scare you off the bike. :?

K, polysporin for your leg after washing it gently with disenfectant soap and water. Wrap it gently with sterile cloth. Leave it for at least 10 hours, then take it off GENTLY and air it for a couple of hours. A lamp pointed at the wound will warm it and help the scab to form and dry out.

Suddenly shifting from neutral to second at high speed in a lean will cause the backtire to be moving a lot faster then the front one all of a sudden. Basically the sudden increase in rear tire speed caused it to break loose of traction. This is why some of the members of the board suggest that you not shift while in a lean. I'd say you shouldn't be shifting out of neutral while in a lean in any event.

When something like that happens the only thing you can do is look straight ahead and not fight with the bike. Fighting it will make the wobble worse, and looking down will put you there. Eyes on the horizon and keep on the throttle. As backing off the throttle will rapidly change the rear tire speed and compound the problem.

You might want to get the lady at LAX to xray your leg as well.

*edit* I'm a mentally challenged, I forgot to mention that I'm glad your bike came out okay, and you aren't badly hurt. You need to check to make sure your forks are still straight, and that the brakes are good. Check the tank for leaks and other stuff like that as well.

First things first...glad you're basically ok...

Use peroxide first to clean and disinfect and THEN use the antibacterial. It's probably done by now anyway...but peroxide is the way to go, antibacterial ointment and a sterile, loose dressing.

Again...glad you're ok...My query to you is how did you go from first gear to neutral? Didn't kick hard enough, or what?

Sounds like you really put alot into the back tire, as your RPMs might have been high after revving it in neutral, then flipping to second at low speed and engaging the clutch and put your bike out of balance.

No expert, but hindsight (always 20/20!) is that once in neutral you should have waited longer for your engine to come back down or coasted through the turn. As someone else suggested, maybe shifting during a turn is not a good idea.

Glad to hear you're okay...hope the bike gets fixed and you're back on the road soon!

thx for all the replies guys,

one thing i forgot to mention was that the oil light was on when i turned it back on, but then went off....after maybe 30 seconds to a minute.

since i don't have any of that stuff here i called my neighbor over and he brought over all the necessaries.

anyway, i washed it with sope & water....there were some black staff over the right section of the wound that wouldn't come off.....poured some "Hydrogen Peroxide Solution" on a part of it and it BURNED SO MUCH :wallbash: ......then i held my breath and pured it all over... :censored:
...then wrapped it with some white sterile cloth. it doesn't burn as much any more....thank you

but the leg i still can't stand on....if the pain doesn't go away by tomorrow, will definitly take an x-ray.

well, this time i think i didn't hit it hard enough, but the bike has had problems in the past:

i.e when i stop towards a red light in first gear and stay in first OR stop, put in in neutral, and then pop in back in first, i rev it and notice i'm not moving.

in both cases it pops back into neutral without my foot touching it........i remember talking to the MSF instructor about it(a month ago) and he said, there is something wrong with your gear shifer/box....i don't remember the exact term he used....but i do remember him saying that it'd cost 6 or 700 bucks so i never got it checked out.

That black stuff is your leg actually being cooked. It's not going to rub off. Hmmm, let me see if I can dig up my pictures.

Image
This is the night of, the red stuff took about weeks for the scab to peal off. The black parts took full 3 months.

This is about 6 months later
