any performance upgrades for the LS650?
I am buying this bike end of this month, and am told I will be wanting more after a year or so, well I would like to lengthen the time when I want more power and all, are there any performance upgrades that work well for the money and pull some more power out of the one lunger?

The little Savage isn't really the kind of bike that people spend a great deal of time or money to make faster, in general.
It is what it is and that's enough for it's job. You won't lose much if any money when you want to sell it after your ready to move up. Then it can keep doing it's job with the next owner, and you can put your mod money and the resale together to get a bike more suited to how you decide you like to ride.


The little Savage isn't really the kind of bike that people spend a great deal of time or money to make faster, in general.

Agreed. Learn what you need to learn on this one, then hand it off to the next newbie or poor college student. You'll never get a good ROI if you dump a ton of money into it trying to make it suit you only to get rid of it anyway (which you will). It sounds like you got a helluva deal on it so barring any major damage you should be able to darn near break even when the time comes.

well I ment things that are cheep. I checked out suzukisavage.com and they were going on about some carb mods that kill the backfiring problem and beef up the power cause they set it too lean. all it takes is a screwdriver, thats the kinda thing I'm going for here, heh, then the next newbie gets a better bike.

Oh...okay, well yeah...you can do that sort of stuff. Most bikes come set up too lean right from the factory. You can blame the tree-hugging EPA for that one. You could probably do all sorts of free or very cheap modifications to the intake and exhaust, coupled with some tweaks (or jetting changes) to the carb to make a bit more power. However, it still won't be enough to convince you to keep the bike any longer. Once you have the basic riding skills down, you'll be looking for a bike that fits properly.

yes probably in the size and style of the mean streak you're riding. but with my finances it will likely be 2 years before I upgrade. In that time the suzi will likely see blue paint and carb mods. just cause, well I like my bikes blue.
