Hey guy's wondering if you can reccomend any good insurance carriers that actually like motorcyclists.. I tried progressive, and with the MSF course a 2006 gsxr 1000 will be 3,800 per 6 month period.. full coverage with comp.. i take out the collision portion of the Comp and it leaves me at 600 per 6 month period.. now being 20 and riding a gsxr 1000 can be a dangerous combination.. just curious if any of you know of any smaller companies that you can reccomend.. i just dont want to pay the cost of the bike for insurance for the first year :).. Suggestions would be greatly appericiated.

The problem is your age bracket, combined with your bike, cause a significant amount of accidents, costing the insurance company a lot of money. That is why insurance is so high, and if you do find a cheaper carrier, they have to cut costs somewhere. That might include having "pee"-poor communication when you have questions and heaven help you if you want to make a claim.

You might want to try a third party that tries to find the cheapest insurance for you. I think Pemco or Safeco does that (I forgot which one). Good luck, though, some companies might just laugh you off the phone. :frusty:

well the GSXR1000 is a fast fast bike, and even if you have a lot of exp it will be costly, if you new to biking and have little exp it will be really expensive. i have progressive and its dirt cheap for me and i love my agent and company

I've tried Progressive and Geico...both of them quote me at around 1,400 a year :?

While it seems a bit high to me (paid less than that on two cars, '90 mustang, and '91 escort station wagon, at the same time), I guess I can understand the risk they think they are taking.

may i ask how old you are and if youve had any crashes in the past 3 years?

If you look at the Crash and Theft statistics for the GSXR line in general, you'll understand your high rates. Combined with your age  Mr. Insurance is doing this ... :pbjt:

I'm 20 (as of two days ago), and am "ticket free and collision free" (as my DMV class instructor used to say) since I got my license when I was 16.

25 yrs old, 1 violation ticket, car insured together w/ my bike, long-time customer.

AAA

'92 acura integra (liability only) + '06 GSX-R1000K6 (full coverage) = around $1,900/yr.

i could have gotten around $1600/yr if it wasn't for the violation ticket. :wallbash:

20 years old, single MALE, on a literbike (1000cc race tuned).

According to insurance statistics. Chances are that that bike will be totalled WITHIN 24 months. The insurance reflects the likelihood that they'll be paying the bank for a useless hunk of metal and plastic.

Most new riders will have a minor drop or slow speed "oops" within 1 to 3 years. All the plastic on the race styled bikes is EXPENSIVE to replace. If you make it thru that honeymoon period, most riders are then wreck free for years and years.
