Price shouldn't be the only reason you buy a bike.

i got a budget for the bike.
i will be using it for daily commutes and crusing around Michigan when its not raining. Im looking for speed but within price around $5500 at the max $6000

Buy used, then you could afford the R1 or R6. Though they aren't exactly touring bikes. I wish Yamaha made a 650 dualsport.

whats a reasonable amunt of miles on a bike? i know more abut cars and mileage then bikes and mileage. This will be a first bike for me.

You don't want an R1 or an R6 for a first bike. It's a waste of a bike, and more likely to get you into a situation you cannot handle.

i need a bike in my budget and a bike that has some power im a small guy but built like a wall at 5ft5 and waying in at 200LBS. also im a bite of a speed freak.

Your size, and strength has very little to do with your ability to handle a bike. I ride with my Aunt's/Uncle's bclub on occasion. And there is a lady there who is about 5'5" and weighs in at just over 100lbs. She's 60 years old and rides a v-star 1100 like it's nothing. Biking is a function of skill, and to be painfully rude, you don't have the skill to ride an R6 as your first bike.

That being said, my first bike was an LS650, a 33hp single-cylinder cruiser. And it could out accelerate any car that I ran into on the road. And I even managed to outaccelerate a guy on a Ducati 999. He had no idea what he was doing on the bike and it was painfully obvious that he didn't. I got a great view of him in my rearview mirror walking along with both feet to get his bike moving.

I'd suggest starting on the KLR, or even an EX500, they will both suprise you with power to weight ratio, they move very fast, and are a lot of fun.

My little GS500 hauls my 6'6", 220lb bum a LOT faster than would be expected seeing me on such a "little bike".

By the by; if you are on a budget, a GS500 or an EX500 would be more than within your price range. My '97 cost 1400 dollars, and a new one, I believe, starts around $4500 (correct me if I'm wrong). Pretty good deal if you ask me.

i would prefer a bike that i could hall my 200LB rear at least 120 on the freeways. i have some experience riding dirtbikes raod ones arent mush different.
(Your size) a kawaski 250 sport bike could get me the same speed as a R6 even with my weight on it.
