Crazy Nissan owners, slapped the TB's from a GSX-R 1000 onto a 240SX

You normally need to join the forum to see the thread, so i grabbed some photos off of it. Original thread:

I want to do this to my truck now, guess I'll have to get some TB's off of a Daytona 675.

Help me understand the coolness of this modification. Are there no ways to put proper fuel delivery systems on this engine? I think I'm missing the point. Or is this one of those things where it is just cool because they put two odd things together? OR finally, maybe it is cool because it make the car go much faster or run much better than any Nissan part could ever do.

The big thing is, with propper tuning and a few after market parts, it boosts power a lot. That car gained roughly aditional 15 - 20whp from this mod. The car had full exhaust. rwhp is at 152 after this mod, stock, is around 120 - 125 rwhp, with the full exhaust, about 135-140. 15rwhp may not seem that much, but with additional modifications (cams, better tuning, port & polish). So, for building a N/A motor up, it's a cool upgrade. The guy had to do a custom mapped ECU with it though. I made a mirror of the thread
HERE. Only the first page though.
Also, i just thought it was a cool concept. Pretty unique too.

Looks like a redneck did the wiring. And where's the air filtration?

duno, i think he was building a drift car and didn't really care. Maybe a track only vehicle.

If he got the Gixxer TBs for cheap then I say it was worth it.
Most mods aside from a turbo are a waste on a KA motor. You can get more power cheaper from a stock SR20DET.
I've have seen some seriously fast KA powered 240s with homebuilt turbo setups.

I'm guessing that this is a SILVIA that you're talking about??? Or just an add on?
I own an "89 240 and I think the only thing lacking in my car is a bit more power. Handling is great with the sport suspension, the damn thing don't lean a bit in the corners....

Yeah that would be the Silvia SR motor.
240s are great cars if you can find em in good shape (i.e. has not been used for drifting).
I was shopping for a 240 at one point but could not find a decent one in my area. They are rare around here

Yeah, but sr20det wasn't stock in US. It's also rather pricey. For just the cost of the swap, you can turbo and build the KA past the stock sr20det power. $7,000 (cheaper if you're on nico) gets you a stage 2 turbo kit good for 350+ hp (claimed by IAP) on a ka (includes turbo stuff, profecB, JWT ECU, forged rods and 8.5:1 pistons) Now, that $7,000 into a Sylvia that comes with the sr20det... well, MONSTER (comparativly anyway).
But, the SR swap ain't cheap. Need custom mounts, custom axles, then there's the labor of swapping the motors, then there's the actual motor, and since you can't use a sentra's sr20de and turbo it, you'll need a "real" one from somewhere. And that means importing one.
