carbon fiber canister durabilitly

#1 Unread post by Joe Rocket=> »

Hey guys I am new here. I have been riding bikes off and on all my life, but only started to ride seriously a couple of years ago. Well anyway just a quick question, how long does a carbon fiber canister last compared to aluminun or titanium?

I would think they last right up until they make contact with the ground in a serious fashion, just like a metallic one. They won't rust, there's no moving parts.... the most you'd have to do is replace the packing when it blows out, if the canister uses such a design.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I've heard the biggest difference is that a carbon fibre can will have a... deeper noise, while a tinnier sound. Though that's purely subjective I'm sure.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I've had a carbon fiber exhaust for about 2 1/2 years and it's great. It does have a deeper sound than the stock pipe did. Anyway, I don't think you'd have any regrets.
