F4i frame slider install question

I bought some frame sliders for my F4i and I need to cut the fairing to install the sliders. My question is what is the best tool to make the cleanest cut through the fairing? And would it be better to trim the stickers on the fairing than to cut through them?

wha!?

you need to cut the fairing to install your frame sliders? that doesn't sound right. are you sure you got the right frame sliders for the year, make, and model of your bike?

when i got my frame sliders, i made sure it's the one for my bike. installed it w/o cutting anything.

Yes I'm sure, I have seen it on a few F4i's before. The frame slider bolts to the engine mount. I would show you a picture, but I don't know how to post pictures on this forum. :frusty:

it's easy, just use the above codes when you're trying to post.

To drill a clean hole in plastic you need to use a Unibit.

I don't know of anything that will drill through plastic any cleaner.

Even after you drill the hole with the appropriate tool, sometimes your paint will crack in a spiderweb type fashion after a few months.

I havent experienced this myself, but all the mechanics in the shop where I work laugh about it every time they install them.

I need to drill a 2" hole. Do they make a Unibit that big? I also wonder if anybody makes a gromet that big. That may cover up any scaring from the cut.

Two inches, eh?! I'm afraid you'll have to use a hole-saw.
